A consultation by WSCC into the future of 5 small primary schools (including our catchment school, Stedham, and nearby Compton) closed on 25 November. Details of the consultation are here and our response is in the attached document.

The parish council has responded to the WSCC consultation on the Soft Sand Review of the adopted West Sussex Joint Minerals Local Plan. Our response is attached but, in summary, we objected strongly on the grounds that Trotton Bridge would suffer serious harm from the proposed extra 100-200 lorries per day the plan could require, and we agreed with other parish councils that there was insufficient... At the request of some residents, the village council is looking at the possibility of creating a walkway along the side of the A272 from Rother Lane to Terwick Lane. This would run along the edge of the field adjacent to Rother Lane and then along the verge as far as Old Rectory lane. Our neighbouring parish of Stedham with Iping has submitted its proposed Neighbourhood Plan to the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) for examination, and the plan is now open to public consultation until 1 February 2019. The council has responded to the West Sussex county council's consultation on its draft school effectiveness strategy. The primary criticism was the lack of information on which to judge the strategy, especially as it affects small rural village schools.
