Talk: "St George's Medieval Wall Paintings - A New Look at a National Treasure."

Talk: "St George's Medieval Wall Paintings - A New Look at a National Treasure."

Thu, 30 Sep 2021 18:30

The famous and unique medieval wall-paintings in our church have received a lot of attention recently (see HERE) but all are now welcome to hear more with a 45 minute talk by Neil Sagar Stewart BA(Hons), MA. The talk will be at St George's Church , Trotton GU31 5EN, and entitled "St George's Medieval Wall Paintings - A New Look at a National Treasure." Please arrive by 6.30 pm and start with a glass of wine. Parking off A272 at Trotton Farm .

Neil's Batchelor's degree is in Theology and Religion with a special interest in the beliefs and practices of the Western Church in the Middle Ages. From his first sight of the Trotton wall painting he has been captivated by its striking simplicity yet enigmatic message. He has spent a good part of the last year studying the painting and untangling it so as to understand what it is really telling us. Come and listen to his interpretation of the paintings in this historic and beautiful church.
