Address
Elsted Inn, Elsted Marsh

Born and bred in the area, Thais's first job at 14 was as a waitress at The Elsted Inn. Sixteen years later, living and working in London, she realised she wanted to go back home - and took up the opportunity to be landlady back at The Elsted Inn - coincidentally walking in the revered footsteps of previous landlady (and recent chairman of this parish council) Carola Ballard - now Brown! Delighted to be at the helm of her much loved pub, and back in her home community, she's often found (when not working) doing yoga in the beer garden, or on the floor playing with one of the many pub dogs, glass of wine in hand.

"I am really excited to be elected as a parish councillor," she says. "We have such a lovely community, many of the inhabitants are part of my staff, good friends, or family. As a young business owner I am keen to help support other local businesses in the parish. We have a plethora of talented residents, from carpenters and artists to those running prestigious wedding venues in our beautiful location. If we can encourage opportunities, infrastructure, and tourism to the area it will benefit everyone. That might sound grand for a small parish - but there's so much we can do - such as fibre optic broadband for everyone to help those who work from home; maintaining the common wildlife areas to encourage walkers and nature enthusiasts from afar who will stay in local B&B's; getting involved in the district council schemes; encouraging business support etc. etc. I look forward to hearing from you if you feel you need, or can provide, help!"
