Council needs to co-opt new member

As our notice of the vacancy (due to John Daborn moving away) did not achieve the ten requests required to hold an election for the post, we have been legally instructed to co-opt a new member to the parish council.

At our next parish council meeting, on 12th July 2017, we will therefore be required to fill the vacancy by co-opting a new member (ie the council members will elect someone from any available candidates).. Read More »

Drinks & nibbles @ The Old Rectory

All local residents are welcome between 6pm and 8pm on 16th June! In aid of St George's (Trotton) and St Mary's (Chithurst) the Pilleys invite you to drinks and nibbles in the Old Rectory or in their beautiful garden on the banks of the river (weather permitting). Entrance is free but you will be asked to make a contribution to church funds.

Council annual return now available

Our annual return for 2016-17 is now available here.

Between 12th June and 21st July, the public have the legal right to inspect the council's financial records and other information (although our clerk is always willing to answer any queries throughout the year). See the official notice by using the link below.

Council vacancy

As John Daborn has resigned as a member of the council, a vacancy now exists for someone to replace him. By law, the council must now fill the vacancy, either by holding an election or by co-opting a new member.

If ten or more registered electors in the parish notify the returning officer at Chichester district council (see instructions below) that they wish to fill the vacancy by election, the parish council will be ordered to hold.. Read More »

The evocative atmosphere of the mediaeval church of St Mary's, Chithurst, will provide an intimate and other-worldly setting for a candlelight concert by songwriter / singer Tobiah on 1st April to help raise funds for essential repairs to the church roof.

Council agrees merger of "Bridge" with R&T News

The council has never had its own newsletter but has, for many years, co-operated with the local churches in producing and distributing the "Bridge" monthly newsletter.
