Froxfield choir Spring concert

Froxfield choir Spring concert

Sat, 06 Apr 2019 19:30

Froxfield Choir, , led by professional music director Michael Servant, is based in the village of Froxfield near Petersfield and has a growing reputation as one of the best amateur choirs in the area. Click on the title above to see their website.

Tickets £12 available at the door or from One Tree books in Petersfield.

The programme for the concert includes Night Flight by Cecilia McDowall, Agnus Dei by Samuel Barber and Requiem- (A Thanksgiving For Life) the 2007 composition by Sir Philip Ledger, who was for many years the Director of the Choir at King's College, Cambridge. Night Flight marks the centenary of the first woman, the American Harriet Quimby, to fly across the English Channel in 1912. She received little recognition for this remarkable feat, overshadowed as it was by the sinking of the Titanic just the day before. Written for a cappella choral ensemble and cello solo the three songs are settings of poems by British poet Sheila Bryer. Barber's Agnus Dei is a choral composition based on an arrangement of his well known Adagio for Strings.

Our own parish annual meeting

Our own parish annual meeting

Fri, 03 May 2019 18:00

This is our annual parish meeting, to give all parish residents a chance to raise any question or put forward ideas and proposals relating to the parish. Whilst the parish council arranges this meeting and provides a chairman's report on the past year, this is not a meeting of the parish council, but your meeting, to hear what it does and give your suggestions and views. This year, it will also give you the chance to meet the new and re-elected members of the parish council (local elections are on the previous day!) and hear about START community trust, which we have set up in partnership with Rogate and Stedham.
